Program Manager-Technology Business Incubator (TBI)

The Technology Business Incubator Professional at MSMF will maximally leverage the values and needs for research and healthcare systems available at the center. The person will be required to support the incubation and commercialization of innovative technologies by facilitating startup development, technology transfer, intellectual property management, industry collaborations, funding opportunities, and entrepreneurship initiatives. The role involves coordinating incubation programs, mentoring entrepreneurs, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring compliance with institutional and funding agency requirements. Further enabling translation of the research projects at the centre will be a priority. Key Responsibilities Innovation and Startup Support • Identify and evaluate technologies with commercialization potential. • Support faculty, researchers, and entrepreneurs in translating research into market-ready products. • Facilitate startup onboarding, incubation, and graduation processes. • Coordinate mentoring, networking, and capacity-building programs. Technology translation • Assist in technology assessment, market validation, and regulatory approvals • Support intellectual property management, licensing, and technology transfer activities. • Liaise with industry partners for collaborative R&D and commercialization. Grant and funding support • Identify funding opportunities from government, industry, and investors. • Assist startups in preparing grant proposals, business plans, investor pitches, and financial projections. • Organize investor meets, demo days, and industry interactions. • Identify startups with opportunity for funding in MSMF. • Design and organize workshops, training programs, boot camps, and awareness initiatives for academic institutions, researchers, students, clinicians, startups, and industry partners on innovation, entrepreneurship, intellectual property, technology commercialization, regulatory pathways, and translational research. Program Management/Stakeholder Engagement • Coordinate incubation activities, events, workshops, hackathons, and entrepreneurship programs. • Monitor startup progress and prepare periodic reports for funding agencies and institutional leadership. • Maintain records related to incubator operations, finances, and performance metrics. • Develop partnerships with industry, investors, academic institutions, government agencies, and innovation ecosystems. • Promote entrepreneurship and innovation within the institution. • Support outreach and branding activities for the incubator. Outreach and Ecosystem Development: • Develop collaborations with academic institutions, hospitals, research organizations, industry, startups, and funding agencies. • Organize workshops, seminars, innovation challenges, and entrepreneurship training programs for faculty, researchers, and students. • Promote awareness of technology transfer, intellectual property, startup creation, and commercialization pathways. • Facilitate access to incubator infrastructure, laboratory facilities, and specialized equipment through rental and shared-access models to support collaborative research and enhance institutional sustainability. • Represent the incubator at scientific meetings, innovation forums, and networking events to expand strategic partnerships and visibility.
